Patrick Ward our new master accompanied by his chauffeur Almoner visited the nine local widows of the lodge on Saturday 9th December. All were in good health and appreciated the visit, inviting us in for coffee and a chat and in return we left them with a Christmas card and Hamper donated by the lodge members. Seven other widows receive cheques with a Christmas card as they in the main live too far away, one in Cornwall or they prefered a cheque. We will be keeping in touch with them through out the year inviting them to a spring / summer lunch and other functions.

Thursday the 7thDecember saw the best installation meeting I have seen, we had a great turnout, plenty of visitors, especially from the other Chelmsford lodges masters, it was a real honour. The officers of the lodge performed their roles brilliantly, in particular our new Worshipful Master. I would further like to congratulate W. Bro. Jeremy Salter on receiving honorary membership to the lodge. The festive board was held in good spirits with a surprise visit from the boars head. We will be looking forward to the new year.

The Meeting on Thursday 2nd November, was for the raising of Bro. Robert Mitson to the 3rd Degree by our Past Masters. It was great to see our newer members, even though they were not permitted to see the whole ceremony, it was also great to have so many visitors in attendance, which was reflected in the toast to the visitors at the festive board. The ceremony went off without a hitch with thanks to our officers and Past Masters, and Bro. Mitson’s questions were Exceptionally well answered.
